Billy Aardd's Club
Fall 2006 Tournaments.

This Fall we're considering an ambitious tournament schedule to help get the new game room (in the new student building) going. We will start running the Handicapped Straight Ladder again, and we'll also offer the tournaments shown below.

This is a preliminary schedule and as times are likely to change please keep an eye here if you're interested in playing any of these tournaments.

Please check the specifics of the individual tournaments for information about tournament format, entry fees (if any), and prizes.

7-9-8 Ball.   --   August 26, 27.
(This tournament is open to students of New Mexico Tech only.)

There will be player limits (by division) due to table and time constraints. The format of the tournament (number of games per set) may be adjusted to fit time constraints.

Entry deadline is 5:30 pm Friday, August 25. Entry fees have been waived. The schedule will be posted in the game room by 9:00 pm Friday, August 25. Play may start as early as 9:00 am on Saturday.

The game room will open at 8:00 am Saturday for check-in and warm-up.   There will be a pre-tournament meeting for all players at 8:30 am on Saturday, October 26, to review the operation of the tournament.   Any alternates wishing to play should also be present before the first matches start (in case a player hasn't shown up).

Auxiliary Services will be providing the prizes for this tournament.

Players will choose which division they will play in at the time they sign up. Known players may be seeded by the Tournament Director (TD).

Bowlliards   --   Weekday evenings September 11 through September 22,   6:00pm to 9:00pm.
(This tournament is open to students, faculty, and staff of New Mexico Tech.)

This tournament will use a "dropin" format -- you can play any time the tournament is running (games can start any time between the hours posted above) so long as there are at least three people willing to play. A person can enter as many times as they wish, but they can not win more than one prize.

Prizes will be awarded to four places in two divisions. Prizes will come from the Billy Aardd's Club tournament fund. Prizes will be determined based on tournament turn-out.

Here are the scores from this year .

18.2 Balkline   --   Weeknights September 18 through September 29.

This tournament was canceled for lack of entries.

The entry deadline for this tournament was Monday, September 25, at 5:30pm.

Three divisions of play will be offered. There will a first place prize ($20.00), and a second place prize ($10.00) in each of the divisions. The entry deposit (refundable to players who didn't forfeit any matches) is $5.00 and is due at time of sign-up. Limit of 16 players per division (Round Robin with 4 to 5 player's, Double Elimination otherwise).

ACUI   (Association of College Unions International)   9-ball QUALIFIER   --   November 11 through November 19.
(This tournament is open to students of New Mexico Tech only.)

Play would be weeknights and weekends as needed. If possible all play will be done on Saturday (11) and Sunday (12).

This tournament is restricted to students in good standing, able to go to the regional event in February. This time around the regional will be held at the "University of Utah", February 22-24. (If driving we'd likely leave early evening the 21st and get back late on the 25th.)

ENTRY DEADLINE is Tuesday November 7 at 6:00pm.   Signup sheet is in the gameroom.

There will be a Men's Division and a Women's Division (no further breakdowns in either division). The top two finishers, from each division, will qualify to go to the ACUI tournament this coming Spring. Auxiliary Services will pay entry fees and lodging for the tournament.

Format of the tournament will probably be Round Robin groups seeding into a Single Elimination. BCA rules for 9-ball will be used. Round Robin matches will be best of 7. Each Single Elimination non-finals match will be best of 9. The championship (Single Elimination) match will be best of 13.

For more information on this tournament, (and the ACUI Regional and ACUI International tournaments) please check the BAC Tournament board in the student center game room.

For information on other events at the ACUI Region 13 Recreational Tournament (like: Table tennis, Poetry Slam, and College Bowl) check the ACUI web page and ask the appropriate NMT club if they plan on participating.
