			Second weekend: April 17 & 18.

	===================================================================

This tournament is intended to give Tech's better shooters a chance
to come out and show us what they can do. The 1st-, 2nd-, and
3rd-place finishers will have their names placed on a plaque which
is to remain in the game room (or wherever the pool tables reside)
until such time as it gets lost.

There will be a $10.00 entry fee for this tournament. The entry
fee will cover the cost of this tournament, and the plaque, with
any remainder going towards the cost of future tournaments. Prize
money for this tournament will break-down as follows:

There must be at least 6 entries for this tournament to run. The
field will be limited to 16 players. If there are more than 16
entries the Tournament Director (TD) will choose the better 16
players to compete in the tournament (the remaining entries may
start as an alternate if a starter doesn't start their first match).
This restriction is unfortunately due to time constraints.

Players will be seeded by their known ability. Failing that they
will be placed in the remaining slots by random draw.

	-------------------------------------------------------------------

The format of the tournament will be DOUBLE ELIMINATION on a match
basis. Each match will consist of the best 2 of 3 sets. The sets
will be scheduled for 1.25-hours each. There will be a 15-minute
break between sets. Note that a match could consume 4.5-hours with
break times (assuming no extended sets). There will not be a time
	limit on any set.

	-------------------------------------------------------------------

The first set will be one game of Progressive Red-ball, with a
called zero-or-one first shot (the shooter can select either zero
or one-cushion on his first shot, the progression continues from
there as normal) played to 35-points (a score of 15-0 will be
	considered a shutout).

The second set will be the best 2 of 3 games of American Snooker.

A game of 14.1 Continuous to 75-points will be played as the third,
and tie breaking, set if the match players are tied after the first
two sets. NOTE: This straight match is non-handicapped.

Participants are expected to know all the rules of the games being
played, the general rules for both carom billiards and pocket
billiards, and the rules and regulations governing tournament play.
The player chair rule will be enforced. During a match the referee
will be the only person allowed to handle the balls. Applicable
	rules will be posted.

	-------------------------------------------------------------------

Sign-up will open on 10-Feb-93 (Wed) and will close 31-Mar-93 (Wed)
at 8:00 P.M. The schedule for the tournament will be posted no
later then 16:00 2-Apr-93. (First round games are the only ones
that may get rescheduled, and then only if possible). If you enter
this tournament please plan to commit to the times you are
	scheduled to play.

	-------------------------------------------------------------------

Forfeits due to late- or no-shows will be in force. All grace
times for forfeitures are relative to the scheduled starting time
(SST). A forfeit of the first set will be declared if a player is
not ready to play by 15-minutes past SST. A forfeit of the first
game of the second set will be declared if a player is not ready by
10-minutes past SST. If that player is not ready to play the
second game of the second set will be forfeit at 20-minutes past
SST. The third set will be forfeit if a player is not ready to
	play by 15-minutes past SST.

	-------------------------------------------------------------------

Choice of break for each set will be established by lag. In the
second set the choice of break belongs to the looser of the
	previous game of that set.

	Ray Piworunas, acting TD.
