I've been mulling an idea Andy presented at the end of May.  It was in response to an email I sent (May 25) about there being too many unplayed matches.  Of 35 matches 17 were not played.
Andy was thinking that having more tournaments (say quarterly) would give the league more exposure and as a result (perhaps) more players.  To give the players something to play for in tournament Andy was thinking of people paying $10 per match (outside of tournament, i.e. in ordinary matches during the usual rounds) and using that as prize money (in addition to tournament entry fees) for the tournaments.
I expressed two reservations about paying per match.  The first was that I've been quite happy not having to keep track of money. My larger concern is that some people who are playing now may not play if they had to pay per match.
Time to find out how the players feel about paying per match and using the money for 14.1 League tournaments.

One of the
approaches I came up with was that people who weren't interested in
playing in tournament would not have to pay to play non-tournament
matches.  If they did want to play in a tournament then they'd
have to pay for each match they played in all the rounds between last
tournament and the one coming up in order to be eligible.  To
reduce manipulating things here they would only be allowed a certain
number of forfeits (assigned to them) during that period.
On paying per match —
Yea : None,
Nay : 2.

Yea : None,
Nay : None.
